An Up Close Look At What’s Next

An Up Close Look At What’s Next

As we head into a new chapter here at Ring, we’ve had some time to step back and look at how far we’ve come. From exciting new product launches and ground-breaking features, to surprising creativity from you, our customers, it’s been fun to reflect on how it all fits together to make up who we are as a company today.

Where we've been.

Ring started in a garage when founder Jamie Siminoff, wondered what would happen if you could answer the front door from your phone. What if you could check on over there from right here? That simple question led to the first Video Doorbell and helped millions of people feel connected to their home and secure wherever they went. That feeling of security has helped guide us since the beginning and it will always play an important role in our products and approach.

Where we are.

But something surprising happened along the way. Devices and cameras that were designed with safety in mind opened the door for so much more. It’s been quite the ride. We’ve followed along as products that were designed to let you check in and make sure everything is okay also captured funny, surprising moments around the house that you’ve felt compelled to share with us and the world. And there’s no sign of slowing down.

From the unexpected….

To the heartwarming…

To the, well, stunning...

Customers haven’t just been sharing all of this. They’ve been reposting it. Commenting on it. And connecting to each other through it. Feeling closer to their homes and their lives, no matter where they were. We didn’t know this was going to happen, but you led us here. And by organically using Ring to keep you connected in all these funny, sensational and human ways, you inspired us to grow along with you and evolve our mission to make space for it all.

So what does a package notification have in common with a chunky raccoon? What we kept coming back to was closeness. We saw over and over again how our devices and services worked to break down distance. And not just between people, but between important places and spaces, too. We really feel like distance shouldn’t separate us from what we care about. And with a Video Doorbell here and an Indoor Cam there and the Ring app in your pocket, it no longer has to.

With that, we’re excited to share with you something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for many months. And, as you can see, it’s something you’ve been helping us work on, too. You’ve played an active role in shaping our culture and helping us define our new mission:

Keeping people close to what’s important.

So thank you for your help in getting us to this point. It’s truly been an unbelievable decade-plus journey.

“We’ve come so far as a brand and our offerings have expanded well beyond the front door. Our customers all have things that are important to them and we are proud to play a role in keeping them connected. It’s important that Ring’s mission celebrates where we are today and where we are going.”

Where we're going next.

At the core of everything, all we’ve built, designed and created, is that same inventors spirit that started in a garage, driving us to bridge the distance between people and what they care about. And we believe there’s nothing better to use to guide us into the future.

What’s next? That’s part of what’s so cool about this point in our history. We have a clear vision for where we’re headed, including more new products, exciting upgrades, game-changing features and bear videos (you’ve shared over 200 already this year). And, of course, you. You’re a big part of our future, too. You keep showing us what’s important to you and we’ll keep finding new ways to keep you close to it.

“We’re still at the very beginning of this journey. We’re continuing to tirelessly innovate on behalf of our customers, investing in AI-powered features like video search and vehicle detection, to tell you what is happening in your videos in a way that is personal to you.”
