Frequently Asked Questions
Alarm Security Kit is a DIY home security system that works on both houses and flats. The 5-piece kit comes with a Base Station, Contact Sensor, Motion Detector, Keypad and Range Extender.
Alarm is simple enough that it can be installed without any tools or professional installation. Simply place the Contact Sensor on any door or window in your home, and choose to get a mobile notification when it opens. You can also place the Motion Detector in any room of your home, and get a notification when motion is detected.
To get started with Alarm, you need to purchase an Alarm Security Kit. The Base Station controls your entire Alarm system and is only available with the Alarm Security Kit. The Base Station cannot be purchased separately.
Additional Contact Sensors, Motion Detectors, Outdoor Sirens, Keypads and Range Extenders can be purchased separately to expand the coverage of your system. 1st and 2nd generation devices and accessories are compatible and will connect with the Base Station to protect your entire home.
When setting up Assisted Monitoring for your Ring Alarm, you will be asked to provide the contact details of up to three emergency contacts (this can include you as the owner). These should include trusted family members, friends, or neighbours who can respond appropriately in the event of a security issue. As the owner, you don’t have to be assigned as an emergency contact.
In addition to receiving notifications and emails when your Ring Alarm is triggered, Assisted Monitoring automatically calls your list of emergency contacts to notify them of a potential security issue. During the call, your emergency contacts can accept the notification by clicking number 1 on their phone keypad; they should then be able to appropriately respond to the notification. Find out more about how Assisted Monitoring works.
You can sign up for Alarm Calls by purchasing Ring Home Standard or Premium.
Home Standard also gives you Cellular Backup, 30 days of video recording and sharing for unlimited Ring Video Doorbells and Security Cameras at a single location.
Home Premium includes everything in Standard, plus 24/7 recording and covers all your devices at a single location.
All Alarm Security Kits include a 30-day free trial of Ring Home. After the trial ends, you can purchase Home Standard or Premium.
